J T and The Zydeco Zippers
J T and The Zydeco Zippers

Formed in 1992 and rooted in the sounds of Southwest Louisiana music, the Zydeco Zippers incorporate all the regional sounds including Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, R&B and, following their individual talents add their own original songs and arrangements.  The result has taken them to the casinos of Las Vegas and the majesty of Zion National Park with multiple stops along the way to enliven parties, weddings, clubs and festivals.

Remaining true to traditional CAJUN music their melodies feature the fast fingering of J.T. WHITNEY on the button CAJUN accordion (he designs and builds them, too) and the authentic ring of the triangle by RALPH WHITNEY as you experience the intrinsic melancholy heard in the "love lost" lyrics sung in Cajun French. Guitarist, songwriter MICHAEL FREY depicts life's experiences with a clever twist of lyrics and carries you off on a Louisiana adventure of bayous, alligators,  gumbo, waltzes, dance halls, voodoo and more!

Zydeco is largely the upbeat rhythms resulting from the fusion of blues, jazz, traditional white Cajun music, R&B and urban soul. Here the frottoir, or rubboard, replaces the triangle to sound out that tapping that lifts you to your dancing feet. The perfect dance music for all ages.

Providing the syncopated beat to meld these unique sounds are the talented JOHN HUXSOL on drums, and bassist GARY SANGENITTO, the band's historian, whose knowledge of American roots music adds authority to the music.

Want to get through your housework--or a boring task--try their CD.  Responses to Cajun/Zydeco music include suggestions that this zippy music makes chores evaporate while listening! Ya, you right!
