Speed Racer

Speed Racer is three piece pop/punk band hailing from Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California.  The band was conceived in 1994 and has established many drunken followers.  Their melodic vocals combined with catchy guitar riffs, and fast paced drumming, create a sound which has touched the hearts of many.

Speed Racer was recently described in a San Francisco based publication as a band that, "has all the elements necessary to top the charts, but still captures the raw, snotty sound, and attitude from which punk rock was born."

Hunter "Hanz" Hillegas (guitar/vocals) is no stranger to the music business.  He runs his own record label (Last One Picked Records), publishes a bi-monthly music fanzine (Time Bomb), and, of course, provides masterful singing and guitar playing which help create Speed Racer's unmatched sound.  All this at the ripe young age of 18.
Jeff "Chonze" Theimer (bass/backing vocals) is no stranger to the local liquor stores.  Jeff has lived in San Francisco for the last two years with his cat Squirt.  Jeff has helped establish a formidable fan base, for the band, in the west and east bay.  He is a talented song writer, and bass player, whose song writing talent will be showcased extensively on the Speed Racer CDEP, "Slobs" (due April 98).
Ricky "Slayer" Rhiger is no stranger to brothels everywhere.  Ricky was practically born on a drum set.  He resides in Santa Barbara where he can regularly be seen with a entourage of beautiful women.  His consistent, fluid, high speed, supercharged,  drumming creates the ultimate foundation for the masterpiece of musical interaction known as Speed Racer.
The Album

Speed Racer's debut album was released on August 27, 1996.  The title of the album is "Railer!" (LOP10003), and it is packed with 13 tracks of pure unadulterated punk rock that will make you wanna dance a little jig.
